Matt Gautrey-Jones - Owner and Director

Matt directs Sky High Solutions on a day to day basis, as well as providing consultancy services to clients. In addition to being CIMA and PRINCE2 Practitioner certified, here are some of Matt’s achievements and key skills;

  • Matt delivered all Change Management activity for the launch of Care & Repair, a new CMA regulated Extended Warranty service for Currys PC World and Dixons Travel UK stores. Significant change management was needed to ensure that it is sold compliantly while meeting commercial objectives. Matt designed and built the change strategy, communications plan and learning materials and drove delivery of and built content for all materials for the nationwide launch including eLearning, Store Manager Briefing Days, internal intranet, director video communications and procedure changes.
  • As a Commercial Programme Manager at DixonsCarphone, Matt led the Nationwide Mobile Repairs Programme . The programme included three projects to implement a nationwide offering of in store Mobile Phone Repair Centres, a Booking Tool for repairs and deliver Apple accredited AppleCare Services (ACS) in the Repair Centres. Matt managed all components including
    • Business Case management, cross divisional Programme Governance and programme plan
    • Commercial store selection and space design
    • New repairs service business process design
    • Booking Tool supplier selection, negotiation and approval
    • 3rd party engagement of key repair partners (Samsung, Huawei and Apple).
    • AppleCare contract negotiations with Apple, ensuring the business objectives of Dixons Carphone were included in the eventual agreement and the secured commercial terms and bespoke contractual terms, an unusual occurrence for Apple, matched the Business Case for the Programme. 
  • Matt managed a strategic review of business processes and technology solutions for the Property Group at Marks & Spencer. This review recommended the introduction of an IWMS solution which delivers over £1m in savings per annum. Matt successfully delivered the following
    • Defined the technology strategy for the Property Group and engaged Senior management and Directors
    • Defined the end to end process for Capital Projects and introduced a standard way of working into the Property Group
    • Production of the Business Case and approval of the Programme, incorporating Capital Project Managent solution and the introduction of a room booking and space management capability
    • Defined the new Operating Model and Business Requirements
    • Managed all elements of an Request For Proposal process to select a solution and implementation partner
    • Developed the supplier contract with support from the Legal Team
    • Initiated the Programme including recruitment of the Project Team and establishment of the Project Governance
    • Managed all elements of design, testing and delivery of a multi release programme working with IBM as an implementation partner. 3 major releases including integrations with key systems were successfully delivered in only 10 months
       
  • As a key leader in the Business Programme Team, Matt was the Business Architect for a Workforce Management project tasked with replatforming store, logistics and head office functions at Sainsbury's. The innovative solutions he created resulted in a process and system model removing 13 systems and automating the absence and payroll processes 
     
  • Being a significant founding part of the Project Team delivering strategic change to the HR function at Sainsbury's through full process re-engineering and system replatforming, including the definition of system process to support Shared Service processing for all Recruitment and Colleague Administration processes for more than 1,000 stores. This delivered delivering significant process improvements and in excess of £18m hard benefits per annum
     
  • Matt was selected to join a specialist team to investigate Offshoring opportunities, which led to him identifying processes for the model to support and successfully creating and managing a working proof of concept
     
  • Defined, engaged and owned the strategy for a one off project making improvements to Supplier Payment Terms through clear and fair negotiation, delivering £100m of working capital benefits to the business

As demonstrated by these achievements Matt has a passionate, tenacious and resourceful approach to projects and is able to quickly analyse business processes and systems to identify efficiencies and improvements.
